At first glance Derby can often appear to be a city dominated by modern shopping centres, car parks and some truly awful and ill-judged planning and architectural decisions. However it is definitely worth giving the city a second look.

Throughout the city are some incredibly beautiful buildings, wonderful history and fabulous parks.

Derby can claim to have the world's first factory, one of the earliest public parks, one of the few remaining medieval bridge chapels, and many other places of beauty and antiquity.

The photos on this website illustrate just some of these, however I hope that, together with a little historical detail, they will encourage people to take that second look.
